Aswan / Luxor

Just like the Nile River which flows from North to South, your cruise will set sail from Aswan and end at Luxor exploring all major sites of Ancient Egypt. During these 6 days, you will fall under the spell of the major sites lined alon,g the River King and the quiet and magnificent River banks. Karnak Temple , Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens and Nobles , Edfu, Philae Temple in Aswan …  you will take in the most breathtaking panorama of Ancient Egypt. This six day  cruising is also a privileged way to admire the amazing scenery of the Egyptian countryside. For security reasons, children under 6 cannot be accepted aboard.

DAY 1
ASWAN

Transfer to the Steam Ship Sudan. Settle in into your cabin.
Lunch on board. Afternoon visit of the Temple of Philae – the Pearl of Egypt – in Nubia, dedicated to the cult of the Goddess Isis since the 3 rd Century BC.
Late afternoon free time in Aswan. Why not discover its colorful and popular souk?
Dinner on board and overnight stay in Aswan.

DAY 2
ASWAN / KOM OMBO / EDFU

Early start sailing to Kom Ombo, north of Aswan.
Visit of the Temple of Kom Ombo, erected on the Nile banks, on one of the most seducing sites of Upper-Egypt. This peculiar temple was dedicated to two divinities: Horus, the Falcon God and Sobek, the Crocodile God.
Lunch on board while sailing to Edfu.
Late afternoon visit of the best preserved temple of the Ptolemaic Dynasty; its buildings are perfect examples of Ancient Egypt sacred architecture.
Back on board. Night sailing to Esna. Overnight stay in Esna.

DAY 3
ESNA / LUXOR

After the passing of the Esna lock, sailing to Luxor, the Ancient Egyptian City of Thebes.
Afternoon visit of the majestic site of Karnak, dedicated to the God Amun, patron of the New Kingdom’s Pharaohs.
Evening visit of the Temple of Luxor. The evening light particularly highlights the perfection of Amenophis III’s columns. That’s where the Feast of Opet was held every year to celebrate the flooding of the Nile and the fertility of the land.
Dinner and overnight stay in Luxor.

DAY 4
LUXOR / QENA / DENDERA

Sailing to Qena, north of Luxor. Only a few ship sail to this splendid stretch of the river Nile where you will be able to enjoy a relaxing morning admiring both banks of the Nile.
Lunch on board and visit of the Temple of Dendera.
Dendera is the name of the spectacular temple of Hathor, Goddess of love and joy, also known for protecting women and nursing Pharaohs. Secluded at the border of cultivated land and desert, with its richly decorated chapels, its Hathor-headed columns, its obscure corridors and stairs, the unique vestige of the ancient city of Dendera is one of the best preserved most famous monuments in Egypt and offers a splendid view of Upper-Egypt countryside from the roof.

DAY 5
ABYDOS / LUXOR

Early start (2-hour drive) to Abydos, a holy city and the cult center of Osiris, regent of the Kingdom of the Dead and god of resurrection. From the Ancient Kingdom era, Abydos was an exceptional site of pilgrimage. The Temple of Seti I is a wonder with its colorful and fine bas-reliefs which mark the birth of Ramesside art.
Lunch on board. Relaxing afternoon sailing to Luxor.
Dinner and overnight stay on board in Luxor.

DAY 6
LUXOR

The morning is dedicated to the discovery of the Theban necropolis, land of mysteries and god Osiris home under the New Kingdom: the Valley of the Pharaohs, whose beautifully decorated tombs which tell us the travel of the deceased through the afterlife and visit the 116 meter long tomb of Ramses VI; the Valley of the Queens, secret necropolis of the royal wives and visit the tomb of Nefertari, the best known of the wives of Ramses II (depending on visitor numbers for the day, entrance to this tomb cannot be guaranteed); the Valley of the Nobles, which is the necropolis of officials, high dignitaries and the court in general, who did not come from royalty and visit the tomb of Ramose; the Valley of Craftsmen known as Deir el-Medina, created to welcome the sculptors, painters and stonemasons who worked on the necropolises.
